GENERAL CARE

During chiropractic care, adjustments of the spine are just one element of your treatment. When Dr. Castillo develops an individual treatment plan for each patient, that plan may include a variety of alternative health techniques including acupuncture, massage therapy, physio-therapies, Graston Technique®, KinesioTape, nutritional consulting and corrective exercises. Every person and every health problem are different, so every treatment plan is different. Here are some of the services that Dr. Castillo may integrate into your course of care.

Chiropractic Adjustments of the Spine and Extremity

The chiropractic adjustment is the restoration of motion to one or more vertebral segments of the body. Dr. Castillo adjusts the spine and any joint in the body by using his hands and specially designed treatment tables. This method of adjusting allows them to be extremely specific in their corrections of the spine and joints. More importantly, it is comfortable for the patient.  What are “cracking” noises after an adjustment?  They are called Cavitations.

Functional Corrective Rehabilitation

Functional rehabilitative exercises are critical to the healing process. When a patient suffers from an injury such as low back pain, the surrounding tissues and muscles automatically work inefficiently. After a patient's muscular imbalances have been identified and the spinal joint dysfunctions have been corrected, Dr. Castillo will lead patients through a core-building exercise plan in the office that can be done at home or the gym to continue the healing process while strengthening and coordinating injured tissues and muscles. Corrective exercises can help prevent future injuries and imbalances throughout the body.  Dr. Castillo has completed certifications in the TRXR Suspension Training Sports MedicineR Course and with Selective Functional Movement Assessment.

Cold Level Laser Therapy

Dr. Castillo uses the latest technology in patient care by using the Theralase TLC-1000.

Theralase  therapeutic laser treatments provide our patients with a safe, effective and painless therapy that uses the body's own natural healing systems to relieve pain, increase joint mobility, increase tissue integrity and promote cell regeneration.

Theralase lasers work by supplying energy to the body in the form of billions of photons of light. The body absorbs this laser light on a cellular level and transforms it into chemical energy, which the body then uses to commence its own tissue repairs. The bio-stimulating effect of laser therapy causes a decrease in inflammation and pain and an increase in tissue regeneration and healing.

Theralase lasers offer treatment for acute and chronic pain conditions, addictions, and cosmetic revitalization. Our lasers help you regain the active and healthy lifestyle you yearn for by utilizing the power of light energy.

Over 3,000 clinical studies worldwide have proven the success of therapeutic lasers in the healing of neural muscular-skeletal conditions. Theralase  has performed a blinded randomized control study on chronic knee pain proving the clinical efficacy of Theralase  therapeutic laser technology and achieving FDA 510(k) approval for chronic knee pain.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Low levels of electrical impulses are applied to the area of complaint through electrical stimulation pads. Depending on the settings, it can be used to stimulate the production of the body's natural painkillers, resulting in a reduction in pain symptoms, a reduction in muscle spasms and an increase in muscle strength.

Graston Technique®

Graston Technique® is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables Dr. Castillo to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping — developed by a doctor of chiropractic in Japan nearly 25 years ago, Kinesio Taping has become the gold standard for therapeutic rehabilitative taping. This method uses a uniquely designed and patented tape for treatment of neuromuscular disorders and lymphedema reduction that affects the activation of neurological and circulatory systems. Kinesio Taping has been used on cyclists in the Tour de France, Olympic athletes, professional tennis players, professional volleyball players, CrossFit athletes, Tri-athletes, runners, and even weekend athletes.  Dr. Castillo is a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner.

Acupuncture

Meridian channels along the body allow the body's energy or "Qi" (pronounced chi) to move freely. When the energy or "Qi'' becomes stagnant or does not move, it can cause pain or dysfunction. Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points along the meridian channel to improve energy flow and stimulate the healing process.  Electrical stimulation can also be used in conjunction with the needles to enhance and speed treatment time.  Dr. Castillo also uses Needleless acupuncture for the faint of heart.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which Dr. Castillo applies special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

Gait Analysis and Custom Orthotics

Gait analysis is the assessment of a patient's gait while walking, running or both to examine the "kinetic chain" from the ground up, looking at the feet, knees, hips and up to the back.  Our feet are the first to make contact with the ground and adapt to the contours of the terrain. Over-pronators (flat feet) or supinators (high arches) can have difficulty adapting to the terrain, which can lead to bunions, hammer toes, plantar fasciitis, knee pain, hip pain and low back pain. Dr. Castillo can identify dysfunction in the feet and administer personalized shoe inserts called orthotics. Dr. Castillo is a certified practitioner in Sole Supports customized foot orthotics.

Nutrition and Lifestyle Counseling

Optimal health and living a healthy lifestyle are the foundation of our core values. We believe that wellness can be attained by using science-based testing to correct nutritional imbalances, resolving many health issues. A comprehensive metabolic profile is a highly accurate test that can show abnormal levels of essential nutrients that may reveal root causes of symptoms that can lead to disease. This test eliminates the guesswork about where to start addressing your health issues. Based on your test results, an individualized nutritional program can be designed to correct any nutritional imbalances while optimizing your metabolic function and health. We also offer an advanced detoxification program to help your body rid itself of dangerous toxins. The process of detoxification is critical to health and the body needs specific nutrients to enhance its ability to cleanse itself.

“Dr. Castillo really listens to my issues and goes out of his way to explain why something is happening and how to fix it.”
